Can I just say I have the most amazing friends!!?? I was talking to my friend Anna about how much I like sushi, (Like California rolls, and jasmine rolls-baby steps!) and that I had no idea how you could make it at home but I wanted to. She said, that her dad makes it, and she told him that I wanted to learn how, so they invited me over for a sushi-making party. (Dinner!) It was AWESOME. Her dad showed me how, and then her mom and dad told me that I needed to learn, that it wasn't just good enough to watch, and so they had me make three sushi rolls to take home. It was amazing, hard and simple at the same time. Anna's little sister Becky reminds me of me and all my sisters/girl cousins (she can sit up and eat just like a man!) and I had made caramels a couple of weeks ago, and Becky and Anna loved them so much (they took a bunch home-ok Becky took a bunch home) that their mom had me come over and show them how to make them. I felt it was an ok demonstration, nothing fancy like sushi, but the next dinner we are doing is german!! We are going to make Weinerschnitzel (not hot dogs-thinly breaded pork or chicken that is fried-and served with a side of lemon) and then spaetzle a very tasty German noodle (total gluten fest, but sometimes...ya just deal with the pain for spaetzle!) I'm excited but feel I need to perfect it before I cook it for their family!! Anyway, I just want to thank the dougals for being such a great open, loving family, and always welcoming me into their home, to Anna for being such a great friend, and to Becky who eats all my leftovers and then some. You guys are the best!!
Ern, that looks like fun times. I wouldn't be down with eating the sushi, but making it for others, sure. :) Your friend's family seems way cool.
